Lloyd Harris finds his feet on Barcelona Open clay

South Africa’s Lloyd Harris has advanced to the third round of the Barcelona Open after an upset win over Spain’s Albert Ramos-Vinolas.

South Africa’s No 1 tennis player Lloyd Harris advanced to the third round of the Barcelona Open after an upset win over Spain’s Albert Ramos-Vinolas on Wednesday.

The unseeded Harris beat 17th-seeded Romas-Vinolas 6-3, 6-4 in a match which last an hour and 38 minutes.

Harris served 11 aces and didn’t drop his serve in the match.

Lloyd Harris faces Alex de Minaur next

Harris, 25, who is now 39th in the live word rankings, beat local player Roberto Carballas Baena in his first round match on Tuesday.

Harris, who hails from Cape Town, will next face Australian 10th seed Alex de Minaur.

De Minaur beat France’s Ugo Humbert 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in his second round match.
