With the pressure mounting, Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has expressed confidence in the team’s progress, emphasising their commitment to moving in the right direction.

Although currently sitting in 8th place on the log table, Amakhosi aim to regain positive momentum and compete for silverware in the future.

A Rocky Start to the 23/24 Season

Having been eliminated in the semi-finals by Mamelodi Sundowns and collecting only 11 points from nine games, Kaizer Chiefs’ performance in the early stages of the season has been inconsistent. 

However, Kaizer Motaung Jr remains optimistic about the team’s potential and their ability to turn things around.

Transition and New Additions

Motaung Jr acknowledges that Kaizer Chiefs underwent significant changes, with nine new players joining the team this year. 

“There are many aspects to it. To be honest we have a very new team. Nine players this year and also from last year, coupled with youngsters from the Academy, “ he said as reported on FARPOST

Combined with promising talent from the club’s academy, the team has undergone a transformation aimed at building a competitive squad for the future.

Despite the initial challenges, Motaung Jr believes that the amalgamation of experience and youth holds great promise.

Kaizer Chiefs Striving for More

Sitting in 8th position is not where Kaizer Chiefs aspire to be. 

The team has set its sights on not only competing in the league but also excelling in cup competitions. 

Jr spoke about the ambition to avoid being outside the top positions, especially in prestigious tournaments like the MTN 8. 

“Like you said we know the positives and we are aware that we don’t want to be out of the the MTN 8 as a club of this size. That’s not where we wanna be,” he added.

The club recognizes its rich history and the expectations that come with it.

Positive Optimism for the season 

Despite the rocky start to the season and the current league position, Motaung Jr maintains a positive outlook. 

He believes that the blend of experienced players and promising newcomers, combined with the clear vision for the team’s future, will lead them in the right direction. 

“ But I think with this bunch of players that we have put together and the reason behind this mix I think that we are very positively optimistic about the direction we are taking as one team.”

This optimism reflects the determination within the club to regain their winning ways and bring glory back to the Amakhosi faithful.

The next challenge for Kaizer Chiefs comes in the form of their encounter with Golden Arrows on October 28, 2023. 

This match presents an opportunity for the team to showcase their progress, gather momentum, and climb up the league table. 

Kaizer Chiefs may have had a rocky start to the DStv Premiership season, but they remain committed to achieving consistency and striving for success. 

With a new squad, a clear vision, and the support of their dedicated fan base, Amakhosi are determined to rise above their current position and compete for both league and cup honors.
